St. Ann Academy brings “The Ugly Duckling” to life

May 8, 2015 -- St. Ann Academy in Bridgeport presented the musical HONK, Jr., on May 8. Students from grades 2-8 worked with their music teacher to bring the story of The Ugly Duckling, a literary fairy tale by Danish poet and author Hans Christian Andersen, to life. Each year St. Ann Academy students have the opportunity to participate in a musical production. In the past, students have performed many Disney classics, including Aladdin, Jr., and Little mermaid, Jr.

Cathedral Academy principals get honored at Fordham University Leadership Dinner

May 28, 2015 - During her keynote address during the 21st annual Catholic School Executive Leadership Dinner hosted by Fordham University's Graduate School of Education (GSE) on May 28, New York Education Department Regent Kathleen Cashin, EdD, said that leading a Catholic school is not unlike being a Navy SEAL. Like Navy SEALs, educators must embrace diversity, confront danger, persevere despite hardship, and demonstrate remarkable self-discipline, noted Cashin.

The Catholic Academy of Bridgeport, a faith-filled learning community, is comprised of three elementary schools in the city of Bridgeport: St. Andrew Academy, Cathedral Academy, and St. Ann Academy. The only way to get to know us is to come visit us and find out why parents and students love our schools.

Since the late 1880's our schools have educated generations of students filled with Gospel values, eager to learn and live responsible, disciplined and purposeful lives. All Catholic Academies of Bridgeport schools are accredited by the state of CT and NEASC. 100% of our graduating 8th graders attend high school and nearly 100% attend college.

Nearly 1,000 children are currently enrolled in the Catholic Academies of Bridgeport. 60% are Roman Catholic and 40% are non-Catholic. We embrace a culturally, spiritually, and economically diverse environment.  Our population is comprised of 42% Black, 31% Hispanic, 25% Caucasian, and 2% a mix of Asian, Indian, or are multi-cultural.
